Ongar Town Council has received three awards from the Essex Playing Fields Association at the Annual General Meeting held at the Essex County Cricket Ground, Chelmsford, on Thursday (October 13).

Town Clerk, Aimi Middlehurst was presented with a Gold award in the Best Kept Play Area category for the Cerizay play area behind Chipping Ongar Library in the High Street.  A Gold award was also received in the Best Kept Football Pitch Love Lane.  Shelley play area at St Peter’s Avenue received a silver award.

GREEN BELT REVIEW (Stage 2)

The purpose of the green belt

To check the unrestricted sprawl of large built up areas.

To prevent neighbourhood towns merging into one another.

To assist in safeguarding the countryside from encroachment.

To preserve the special character of historic towns.
